Rustic
Found in the southern region of Puglia, Italy, close to the small town of Collepasso, La Casa Dei Ricordi sits modestly among centuries old farmland and countryside, not too far from the Mediterranean coastline that wriggles its way around Italy’s boot.
La Casa draws in and takes influence from its surroundings; the landscaped gardens still slightly wild, nearby trees allowing for privacy and seclusion, but not preventing the natural views, dappled light scattered across the courtyard and through the windows. Simplicity flows through the terrace arches and into the villa itself.
Owned and run by generations of the Gianfreda family for many years, La Casa Dei Ricordi sat empty until recent renovations began by Nick Gianfreda in late 2016. Retaining the original character, heritage and feel of the place, it has been restored to a beautiful two bedroom home, a perfect fit for those seeking a rustic escape to the Italian countryside. While the villa provides a welcoming retreat to recharge, with air conditioning, two well appointed bedrooms, a bathroom and relaxing communal spaces, by far the most alluring space is outside on the terrace. A real focal point to watch the sunrise, enjoy leisurely meal times that stretch over hours, relax in the sun with a book, or enjoy the company of your fellow travellers with a bottle of wine.

Rural
The villa sits very much in the countryside so a car is essential to making the most of your stay in this unfrequented spot. If remoteness and seclusion is what you seek then you’re looking at the right place.
The area’s natural beauty is waiting to be explored, and the local produce, culinary delights and of course gelateria can be found in Collepasso, the nearest town just a ten minute drive away. Find the sandy beaches of Gallipoli and the quaint old town of Otranto both a 30 minute drive away - albeit in different directions, or join the locals at the famous Rocca Vecchia - a rocky spot on the coast with a natural pool at the bottom of the cliffs. Like La Casa dei Ricordi, it’s worth the leap of faith!
There is so much to offer in this simply stunning area, and you’re invited to discover more whilst staying here. While La Casa Dei Ricordi may be off the beaten track, it’s the perfect base to enjoy the wider location. Hidden gems, local restaurants, places to visit and unique experiences make this spot a joy to visit.
Real
In keeping with the history and unique location, a local touch was a necessity for Nick’s vision in creating a unique haven to be enjoyed by guests. Local tradesmen were used for every aspect of the renovation, and you can see the journey they took displayed as photos across the villa’s white walls.
You may even be lucky enough to meet Lino during your stay, a friend of the Gianfreda family for many years, and the villa caretaker. He will occasionally pop in to say ‘ciao!’, and a conversation with him will uncover some delightful tips and local knowledge. La Casa Dei Ricordi already holds many years of very special memories from Gianfreda family and friends who have enjoyed it.
